Nashville #5 (Quickie)

Hello, again, all! It's late and work ran long today, so just a quick post for now. I stitched a little at lunch on Jane Clarkson (Samplers Revisited), and here's my progress. Don't you love the colors of these border flowers?

Speaking of color, what a fun saying, with its flowers and buttons and bright pink color! "Dilly Dally" by Art to Heart.

This is not Nashville, but it's new in the shop: Just Cross Stitch's April issue devoted to "Blooming Spring Designs" is a winner!

Here are a couple of tastes of the inside of this magazine: Tulips

And Donna Giampa's (always a favorite of mine) Cabbage Rose.

The lovely and delicate "Springtime in My Garden" by Samplers Not Forgotten.

And finally, "Springtime Messenger" by With Thy Needle and Thread. Come on, Spring!

Back in a few days with some more from Nashville and around the shop!

We are located at 8800F Pear Tree Court, Alexandria, VA and our phone # is 703-360-4600. We are open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and from 12:30 - 4:30 on the first Sunday of each month, except during March, when we'll be open from 12:30 to 4:30 each Sunday because of the Woodlawn Needlework Show. Stitch Nights are the first and third Wednesdays of the month from 6 to 10 p.m.

Happy Stitching!

Nashville #4

Hello again! I thought that those of you who are interested in stitching Samplers Revisted's "Jane Clarkson" might like to see a little bit of my progress on her so far. I'm stitching her on 40 count Maritime White from Lakeside, using the NPI fibers as charted. It is a very fun stitch!

Not everything that's new in the shop is a large project either. Take a look at "Sheep in the Garden" from Shepherd's Bush. Darling!

"Cinnamon Stars" by Plum Street Samplers. (I'd classify this as a mid-size design.)

"1776 Harbor" by Chessie and Me. Small, and packs a big punch. All kitted up too--just grab and go.

Adorable and beautifully made little "whatnot boxes" that come in four finishes.

Lone Elm Lane's "Oh Glorious Day" to insert in the shaker box top.

This is a larger design, but so arresting in red! Dutch Treat Designs' "Emma Sandford 1867."

And last, but not least, "Pomegranet Sewing Tray and Persimmon Scissor Fob" by Stacy Nash Primitives.

We're at 8800 F Pear Tree Court, Alexandria, VA. Our phone # is 703-360-4600 for questions or to order. Shop hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 12:30-4:30 on the first Sunday of each month EXCEPT in March, where we are open 12:30-4:30 every Sunday during the Woodlawn Needlework Show. Stitch Nights are the first and third Wednesdays of the month. Come join us!

Happy Stitching, and back tomorrow with some additional new Nashville goodies!

Nashville #3

Greetings again, all! Second post today, with more goodies from Nashville!

First up: Stacy Nash Primitives' "Eliza Poole Sampler." I love the boat.

In case you have some time on your hands, here are three spectacular Heaven and Earth Designs charts. I like a challenge, so I purchased the Halloween chart below, "Trick or Treat," by Randal Spangler. It has a whopping 90 pages of charts, calls for 87 colors of DMC, is 625 stitches wide by 890 high, and will call for a full yard of fabric (no need for overdyed fancy linen, as every bit is covered; what I look for in a case like this is something relatively inexpensive that feels nice to the touch). I'm sitting here stroking the package and gibbering....

Got flowers? Love this, want to stitch it. Love everything about it: the colors, the composition, the border, the flowers, the flowers, the flowers. Yes, it's been a long winter, hasn't it? "Cornwall Cottage Sampler" by Rosewood Manor.

Two Prairie Schoolers, both of whose names I have cut off. But a re-released set of Santas and

Bees!

Chessie and Me, "Hope of Spring." Yup, there's still hope, although they're forecasting snow here for Wednesday.

The newest Sampler and Antique Needlework Quarterly. I think the cover is a snooze. Yawn. Ho-hum. But wait a minute.

Lookie what's inside! Oh my goodness, a huge, beautiful sampler with lots and lots of yellow (my favorite) and gold and green. All for the cost of just this magazine. A steal! Plus there are other good things inside as well.

One last repro sampler for today: With Thy Needle and Thread's "Elizabeth Clark 1822." Fabulous.

Back tomorrow with more!

We are located at 8800F Pear Tree Court, Alexandria, VA. Our phone # is 703-360-4600. Our hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and 12:30-4:30 the first Sunday of the month, EXCEPT during March, when we'll be open every Sunday, because the Woodlawn Needlework Show starts on Saturday, March 1. Stitch Nights are the first and third Wednesdays of the month from 6 to 9 p.m.

Happy Stitching!

New From Nashville #2

Hello, all, with another post from our new Nashville merchandise! We will keep posting with our new goodies, but come on into the shop (open today from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.) for the best look at everything! Or call us to purchase something, which we can kit up for you!
First up this morning is Margret Rogers' Garden of Eden! Adam and Eve and a couple of neighbors! We love this fun design by NeedleWork Press

By Hands On Designs, a sweet gaggle of ornaments/pin pillows/cushions called "Gather Friends Close" complete with lovely backing fabrics (not all of us sew and have a pretty fabric stash handy, so this is so appreciated and clever!)

Pineberry Lane's "Pledge of Love." We pledge you'll love this!

Plum Street Samplers' "True Friendship." A small, do-able, adorable sampler to stitch for a friend. Or heck, stitch it for yourself: be your own best friend!

Teresa Kogut's "Everyday Blessings." The blessings may be everyday, but her designs are just folksy-grand!

As we head toward spring, we got a big chuckle out of this quirky design. What fun to stitch a big, bouncing bunny: Art to Heart's "Sprout."

Another bunny on a dear pillow: With Thy Needle and Thread's "Easter Parade."

Barbara Ana Designs' "Hoppy Easter." Barbara Ana never disappoints with her happy, colorful works!

Stacy Nash Primitives' "Old White Farmhouse" sampler comes kitted up with threads. Just pick out a fabric (or we can do it for you) and you're ready to rock!

"Oodles of Winter" by Bent Creek. Fabulous little design, and quick to stitch. Unfortunately, we may yet have oodles of winter here in Virginia, but that just means stitching by the fire, hot cocoa on the side, doesn't it?

We are located at 8800F Pear Tree Court in Alexandria, VA. 730-360-4600. Our hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and 12:30 - 4:30 on the first Sunday of the month, EXCEPT during March, when we'll be open from 12:30 - 4:30 on every Sunday in connection with the Woodlawn Show. Yes! It's back! Go take a gander at some of the finest needlework, done by the finest stitchers, then come over and take a gander at our fabrics, fibers, charts, canvasses, yarns, knitting patterns, gadgets, gizmos and more! Stitch Nights are the first and third Wednesdays of the month from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Don't be shy--we love meeting new people, and we guarantee you'll feel welcome!

Happy stitching, and look for a new post tonight!

New from Nashville!

Ellen and the ladies have arrived back from Nashville with a cartload of wonderful new designs for us to stitch and appreciate! I'm showing a few of them tonight to whet your appetite, but stay tuned, and we'll post more. Also, Ellen will be sending out a newsletter shortly with the designer high points (and there are a lot of them), so watch for that.

First off, Jane Clarkson 1856 by Samplers Revisited. I purchased one of these for myself (it's charted for NPI or DMC). We have the model of this in the shop; I will take a photo this weekend and post it. It was dark tonight, and I just had the little camera with me, which wouldn't have done this beautiful design justice.
Next up is the gorgeous shop model of "Quaker Peace" by Stitching Pretty Presents.

The Nebby Needle: "Old Town Sampler." I bought this also; it's charted for GAST fibers or for DMC.

"Carols on the Square" by Praiseworthy Stitches. In case you're curious, the fabric is 32 count Nocturne by Picture This Plus, and the fibers are Sampler Threads (plus beads and Kreink--wheeeee!). I definitely plan to stitch this!

Here are two adorable models from the mini shop trunk show by Amy Bruecken Designs:

And two fun designs (we have six in the shop) by newish designer Teresa Kogut.

Stay tuned over the next few days for more photos of our haul! Our location: 8800F Pear Tree Court, Alexandria, VA. Our hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. from Monday through Saturday, and the 1st Sunday of each month from 12:30 to 4:30. Stitch nights are the first and third Wednesdays of the month. During the month of March we will be open every Sunday for the Woodlawn show. For questions or to order, please call us at 703-360-4600.

Happy Stitching!

Superbowl Sunday! (At In Stitches)

Greetings, everyone! Hard to believe it's Superbowl Sunday already (I'm writing this Saturday night--so Sunday is in a few hours).
Here are a few samples of Valentine-themed and other treasures from the shop. Come in and see them and many more lovely things. We have a special sale also: the shop is open from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30.

First, we have lots of new needlepoint canvases in the shop, as Ellen has come back from the San Diego show with lots of goodies arriving daily. While this piece is not new, I find it particularly notable with Valentine's Day coming up. It's a shop model, and you can call the shop for the name, since my notes don't indicate.

"My Token of Love" by Rosewood Manor:

"Valentine Trifles" from Shepherd's Bush

Bling-y needle minders from Accoutrement Designs.

"Pincushion Appeal" with adorable patterns for pincushions.

Yet another bright needleminder from Accoutrement Designs.

Spring-y flowers from Cross Stitch and Needlework magazine.

Since winter is hanging on extra long this year, a cute snowman to needlepoint:

By With Thy Needle and Thread, "Valentine Sampler."

A tiny Valentine stitch from iStitch Designs.

Queensland Designs yarns' "Superstar."

Noro "Prism"

And a wonderful shop model (again, my notes fail me as to what yarn this is exactly)

Our address is 8800F Pear Tree Court, Alexandria, Virginia and our phone number is 703-360-4600. Our hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 12:30-4:30 on the first Sunday of each month. Stitch Nights are the first and third Wednesdays of the month.

Happy Stitching!
