New in the Shop and Fall Items (and Needlepoint Too!)

Greetings, all! Here are some of the newer items in the shop:

The Just Cross Stitch 2013 Christmas Ornaments issue--lots of cute things to stitch for Christmas gifts or yourself without breaking the bank or taking a year. Although I save all my issues and get them out year after year.
The newest issue of the Blackbird Designs Abecedarian Series--my favorite so far.

"Elizabeth Lamb 1837" by Samplers Not Forgotten. Love the bird and the reds/greens--although not a Christmas sampler, I've bought one, meaning to start it at Christmas because of those colors.

"Ann Leech Sampler" by C Street Samplerworks. I particularly like the funky little Adam & Eve-ish couple and the boat motif.

We have several new Gigi R sampler charts in the shop. "Sweet Adeline 1873" here.

Likewise, we have several Homespun Elegance charts that are new. Here's one that I am especially fond of.

Remember Notforgotten Farm's Autumn booklet from the last post? Here's another wonderful pin pillow from the pages of this great set of charts.

Kathy Barrick's "Black Heart." I noted that it's charted for NPI silks which glow against the black background.

Jardin Prive's "Patchwork Houses." Lovely pink and blue for those of you not ready for fall colors.

Don't forget that we carry lots of needlepoint canvases and supplies. This magazine is just wonderful--look at the fun Halloween ornaments.

These are needlepoint canvases: bet you recognize a lot of them. There's a lot of crossover between needlepoint and counted cross stitch, both with supplies, techniques and designers.

You may recognize a few Birds of a Feather designs--a great way to get your BoaF fix. Needlepoint isn't difficult--come on in and we'll kit you up and get you started.

Here's an incredible project for the advanced or ambitious needlepointer. Stitch these pieces, then bring the canvas to us and we'll send it to our expert finisher--who will turn it into the most amazing three-dimensional Noah's Ark.

One last older Cricket Collection autumn chart:

And a brand-new shop model (and darned if I can remember who the designer is--but if you want to purchase it, just give the shop a call, and we'll tell you who designed it and can ship it off to you if you want to stitch it! I'm going to buy one and stitch it as a pin pillow.

Our hours are 10 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday, the first Sunday of each month from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. And stitch nights have resumed--6 p.m. to 9 p.m. the first and third Wednesday of the month. New and Not-New (and Fall/Halloween Stitching)

Hello, everybody! We're moving rapidly into fall, and here are some new fall/Halloween patterns (with a Christmas stitch thrown in). We're also going to show you a few older fall charts we have in stock--some were new to me, even though I know they were from last year's market (or perhaps the year before?)

One of my new shop favorites is this wonderful book by Notforgotten Farm. The cover shows a few of the projects contained inside:

And here's a close-up of one of them. I certainly want to stitch this (and others just as wonderful) from the book.

Jardin Prive's "Patchwork Halloween."

JBW Designs has a few different sets of holiday wreaths.

Blue Ribbon Designs' "Through the Trees."

"October Comes" by Shepherd's Bush. We have the fun fabric that you see on the middle pillow in the bottom row.

Not new, but no less appealing: Cherished Stitches' "A Quaker Halloween."

I opened the Shepherd's Bush kit to show you the contents of "Garden Spells." Gorgeous hand-dyed fabric, lots of silks, adorable buttons, and a nice clear photograph all come in the kit.

Prim and Precious: (also not new): "Witch Pumpkin?" by With They Needle and Thread.

I can't remember if this is new--it's certainly new to me: "Il Etait une Fois Halloween" by Dessin.

"Cats and Pumpkins" by Erica Michaels.

Prairie Schooler's "Trick or Treat."

Not new, but lots of fun nonetheless: Silver Creek Sampler: "Halloween Bright."

We still carry this booklet by Blackbird Designs: (Trix or Treat)

Here's one of the dear patterns--what a perfect pin pillow it would make.

Last but not least, the three-part mystery sampler (a mystery no more, but so worth stitching), "Song of the Seasons" by Little House Needleworks. This is our shop model, awaiting framing.

Check back in a few days and we'll show you some more new, not-new and notables!

Our address is 8800-F Pear Tree Court, Alexandria, and our phone # is 703-360-4600. Our hours are 10 a.m.to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on the first Sunday of each month. Stitch Nights have resumed: they are the first and third Wednesdays of each month from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Stitch Night--Come in and Stitch

Happy Sunday, all! I'd like to show you some of the wonderful things we saw on Stitch Night. Stitch Night was on hiatus for the summer, and when everyone returned, there had been lots of progress on the stitching, finishing and starting fronts. I don't know the names of all of the projects here, and it's possible that we don't have some of these, but it's some very nice eye candy!

Wonderful stitcher Carol M. completed all of these. (This is in addition to the roughly 130 framed samplers hanging on her walls!)

Here are some starts being worked on by various stitchers:

We have a a few of these limited edition kits left, but they are going fast: "Forget Me Not Sampler," by With Thy Needle and Thread.

Here's Ellen, our shop owner, coffee dying (with a K-cup!) the fabric in the Forget Me Not Sampler kit.

Drying the coffee-dyed fabric on the hedge.

New shop model, finished three dimensionally ("Henry" by All Through the Night):

Stitch Nights are the first and third Wednesdays of the month from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. (Next Stitch Night is Wednesday, September 18) Come join us!
