Are you going to the beach? Need a little project to take along? Lizzie Kate knows you do!
So does Trilogy with these "Sneak Peeks."
Pickel Barrel Designs has the Boardwalk covered. All you need is some salt water taffy or an ice cream (but don't drip it on your fabric!)
JBW has some cute quick stitches. We've shown some possible red fibers to go with these designs, from AVAS (2923), Crescent Colors (Ribbon Red), and Silk 'n Colors (Cayenne Pepper), perfect for this little sampler. You'll have something bright red to savor long after your sunburn has faded away (pssst: use your sunscreen and save the red for French samplers).
JBW's "French Country Squirrel." Note the little animals within the squirrel.
And what could be more fun than stitching a little red Christmas design at the beach? (Or on your deck, or under the air conditioning?)
Speaking of Christmas, look at what Karen did: First she stitched Alessandra Adelaide's "Cardinal Christmas Ball."
Then she matted and framed it! It's quite large and impressive but not an endless stitch. We're picturing it hanging in your foyer by Christmas.
We are open from Monday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the first Sunday of the month (but not July 3rd because of the holiday). Stitch Night is the first and third Wednesday of the month, but not in July. Please call us to order or if you have questions at 703-360-4600.
Happy Stitching!

Wait 'Til You See These Projects!
Tonight was Stitch Night at In Stitches, and take a look at what we've got going on! First up is Praiseworthy Stitches' "Sandcastle Bay" with the linen (I've forgotten the name of, but it's perfect) and called-for fibers.
Part II of With Thy Needle's "Birds of a Feather" has arrived. So pretty. We're showing it with the suggested Confederate Gray linen and the recommended fibers. We still have Part I available also, for those of you who wanted to see more before you committed.
Tonight was show and tell, since it was Stitch Night. "Jane Tindall 1864" by NeedleWork Press, as stitched by Teresa.
Take a gander at the gander--our favorite sampler bird. Teresa's stitching is amazing.
"Pot for Dickie" by Long Dog, as stitched by March:
Ellen is needlepointing this lovely heart, probably to be finished as an ornament. Blogger won't let me turn this picture.
Deborah brought her basket of socks to show us. Sherry very ably taught her how to knit them, and Deborah caught the sock bug big-time. Look at them all!
Here's a cute self-striping pair.
And socks with lettuce-edged cuffs. We sell lots of different sock yarns. We'll show you some soon.
Mary's working on a little quilt.
Jan is zooming along on "13 Colonies" (Little House Needleworks).
Helen is stitching a Christmas ornament.
Speaking of Christmas ornaments, guess what has arrived? (Yes, even before the Halloween ornament issue).
"Stitch Happy" mugs. Perfect for coffee on the deck on a beautiful June morning.
Happy Stitching!
Give us a call at 703-360-4600 if you see something you'd like to order, or if you have questions. We're open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and normally the first Sunday of the month (but not the first Sunday in July). Also, there will be no Stitch Nights in July, since so many people are out of town then.

We Have Suggestions
Our hot weather locally makes me long for a hammock and a cold lemonade and a patriotic/summery stitch. Don't have a summer stitch? We have suggestions! Here's a little tour of some of the shop's summer models and charts. This three-dimensional stuffed bear is approximately a foot high and is stitched on large-count fabric.
"America" by Little House Needleworks.
"Patriotic Row" by Bent Creek.
"Angels O'er this House," "Cherry Hill Sampler" and "Strawberry Banke," all by Chessie and Me.
"Miniature Samplers V" by Homespun Elegance. You could have this done by July 4!
Stitch up a tiny scissors fob by Shepherd's Bush.
Lots of sweet and summery designs by La D Da. Here are just two--"Lauren's Voice":
and "Merry Sunshine."
What's this guy doing here? He says: "Watch for information about 'Christmas in July.'"
To order from us or for questions, please call at 703-360-4600. We are open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the first Sunday of the month (except for July) from 12:30-4:30.
Happy stitching and keep cool!

Sum- Sum- Summertime
We have lots of summery, flowery stitches for you to look at tonight!
First up is Scarlet Letter's "Jane Atkinson."
Patricia is stitching Jane--isn't she gorgeous? We ooohed and aaaahed, which kicked off our Stitch Night almost as well as the green horseradish dip we all enjoyed. Neither Jane nor the dip were shy and retiring! (Thank you everyone who treated us to fun refreshments!)
Lois Minshall is available again! Stitching doesn't get more summery than this: flowers, birds and butterflies. Lois is charted for 32 count fabric, using either AVAS or DMC.
Here's a lovely summer project from Blackbird Designs' book, "Souvenirs of Summer"--not a new book, but it would be a shame to miss out on this and the other wonderful projects. Definitely worth a second look.
Here's our shop model of "Libertyville" by Raise the Roof Designs. A portion of this fun summer stitch is also seen in our blog banner photo.
The Trilogy has a new chart called "Baby Line Up," pictured with most of the floss colors used. They're pastels with a twist. The perfect gift for a new mom.
Also by The Trilogy is the Summer "Sneak Peek." Here's the first part of the design (includes the buttons shown):
Little House Needleworks has some cute new designs. Love this Christmas Ornie.
This "Colonial Welcome" makes us think about touring colonial Williamsburg during summer vacations. Over the house is a compass, but it makes us think of the sun that always beat down on us while we toured Williamsburg--and while the kids moaned about wanting to go on the water slides at Busch Gardens instead of viewing history.
Speaking of vacation, here is a pair of shop models, finished as pillows.
You need these scissors by Kelmscott Designs! They're reasonably priced and pretty!
The new Vogue Knitting magazine for early fall is in the store, along with lots of fun yarns, including this Ironstone with a very long eyelash. Come see what you can knit with it, because, while summer is just beginning, fall will not be far behind.
Call us at 703-360-4600 to order or for questions. We are open from 10 a.m.- 5 p.m. Monday-Saturday, and the first Sunday of each month (coming up this Sunday!) from 12:30-4:30.
