Market, Trunk Shows and Lock-In

Welcome to the blog of In Stitches, a brick and mortar and mail-order needlework shop located in Alexandria, Virginia. We hope you'll drop by often to see our wares! If you see something that interests you, please give us a call at 703-360-4600, and we'll be happy to answer any questions you may have about price, availability, stitch count, dimensions, recommended fabrics and floss and substitutions if you'd like. And if you would like to order something you see here--or something you've seen elsewhere--we'll be happy to mail it out to you, even if you live outside the U.S.! Click on the link for our particulars, or to sign up for our newsletter.

We have several trunk shows in the shop at the moment. Here are just some of the many extraordinary stitched models from Blackberry Lane Designs:

This table topper is stitched on 40 count.

The runner is stitched on 32 count fabric.

This design is stitched as both a Christmas ornament over one, and over 2 on 28 count fabric. Both are stunning.

Pincushion--love the pins and the design.

The 2011 snow globe ornament.

Saturday night was lock-in from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. There was shopping and stitching and eating and gabbing and more shopping and lots of laughter. Here Jan and March are each looking at the new Blackbird Designs book.

Erin is stitching industriously on Anniversaries of the Heart, also by Blackbird Designs.

Here is Lela's gorgeous work on Ann Baxter by Primitive Traditions (we have this chart in stock).

Macaroni Grill catered the sumptuous feast, and the staff brought desserts. Sugar makes you stitch faster, doesn't it?

Elizabeth and several other stitchers won door prizes.

And for those of you with a yen to stitch something a bit smaller, we have a ton of new small charts, kits and projects of every kind in the shop. Blackbird Designs' Rewards of Merit:

A couple of new designs by SamSarah. Stitch them on bright fabrics and banish the winter blues. (Some of our gorgeous fabrics are shown in the banner photo, and we have others as well.)

Fob and pincushion kits galore. Cuties!

Look at this guy. Front of the kit:

And the back. All you add is a needle and thread plus walnut shells or beans.

Irish Sheepie Mugs--no stitching necessary!

Just as a reminder, our hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (EST) Monday through Saturday, and 12:30-4:30 the first Sunday of each month. EXCEPT--in March we'll be open every Sunday, since we're across the street from Woodlawn Plantation and the needlework show.

  4. I love your blog. The photos are great(even with the glare from the glass). I saw so many things I want. Especially the small pin cushions. I live in Richmond and am planning on coming to your shop soon. Thanks for the pleasure you added to my evening. Liz
