What's New in the Shop, and Nearly Fall

The fall ornament on our blog header is part of a chart of four seasons. Here's the spring one. Don't you love these? I've had them in my collection for years and have started one. We still have them in stock (darned if I can remember the name, but call the shop, and one of our clever ladies will know!)


Speaking of clever ladies: just look at the amazing little Nantucket basked that Linda needlepointed! Something else amazing about Linda's many skills: she actually weaves Nantucket baskets!

Lois, one of our ladies, stitched this for her collection. And it just came back from finishing. I absolutely adore the dark plum feathers, don't you? I'm sorry that I didn't get a better close-up shot--it's quite fun and remarkable. We can arrange for our finishing service to do something like this for you!


We have lots of appealing new Haloween projects in the shop. This one is by Waxing Moon.

Dog Days of Summer

Greetings, all! If you're like us, you're tired of gazing out onto parched dry grass and discouraged flowers. I enjoyed looking at the ornaments on the little tree by our register and counting down the months 'til Christmas.


We have lots of new Mill Hill kits featuring tropical Santas, as well as more traditional Christmas and winter designs.


Speaking of the dog days--here's a quick, fun stitch for the dog lover on your list.

Nifty Needle Nannies from Puffin Designs.


A new shop model. I wanted to show you this beautiful laquered red frame--I'm already plotting ways I could use it. Perfect for Christmas. I'm thinking of red birds... Or, as here, a patriotic stitch.


We have a new line of zippered totes and bags, crystal clear and substantial, with our name, address, phone, email and logo (just so you don't forget us...)


Wouldn't this be perfect for that new male child or grandson? Love the robot!


Trenner Needleworks: The Goode Sister. Love these colors.


This is the beginning of a six-part project from Sam Sarah. We will be selling the frame for it as pictured on the package. And we love that the called-for fabric, which we show here, is EXACTLY the color of the design on the chart.


And a great Halloween project from Rosewood Manor: great colors, a fabulous design and an adorable spider charm, shown in the upper left corner of the photo.


Rosalie was working on this between customers today at the shop. I'm thinking this would be a nice gift for me! Seriously, Rosalie's needlepoint skills are beyond compare and anyone who gets one of her stitched gifts is very lucky indeed.

Lockin!

Today is the lockin here at the shop. Thirty merry stitchers and a bunch of shop ladies met for stitching, shopping, eating (southern style barbecue and lots of delicious sides and desserts) and door prizes. Almost July!

Greetings, all! We can hardly believe that June is half over. Check out our framed shop model of the cute Country Cottage Needleworks' June.


We've stitched up July in the series, and it's ready to pop into a frame. We have lots of Independence day charts and canvases in the shop.


Filigram's "Blackberry Plant" is very summery; and there's just a touch of silk ribbon work to do in it--nothing scary.


Another summery stitch, this one's from Queenstown Samplers: Esther Rondel. This is the framed model. We love the bright colors. It's charted for 32 count fabric using either NPI silks or DMC.

Guess who started it? The colors are a bit off here because of the late afternoon sun.


Here's another farm sampler in Victoria Sampler's series: "Oldfield Orchard."


A close-up of the chart. Fruit pies remind me of summer and the slam of the screen door.


Pineberry Lane's "Home Sweet Home Sampler." Such a nice primitive design.


Jardin Prive is a new designer we're carrying in the shop. We have lots of different charts; here are two: "Quaker de Noel" and


"Lettre A." We have several of the letters and will continue to get more of them in the shop. I am anxiously awaiting Lettre G. A is for adorable. So very French? No, I think Jardin Prive may be Belgian. I've been wrong about this before with another designer (our Belgian reader may know; I always love to hear from our international readers!)


"Whitsun" from Long Dog. We have some other new Long Dogs as well as some classics.


Last but not least, "Hannah Beeby," a lovely Quaker. I love the idea of stitching it in a nice chocolate brown with wheat-colored accents, but you could stitch it in blues. Or in red and pink. Or in a single variegated color: we have Silk 'n Colors or Belle Soie or Dinky Dyes if you like to stitch with silk, and of course, all the colors of Sampler Threads and Weeks Dye Works on any color or count of fabric you could imagine.
