What's New in the Shop

Welcome, all! We had a great Stitch Night on Wednesday, with lots of stitchers gathered round the tables working on projects new and old. Jan finished "13 Colonies" and has moved on to "Around the World in 80 Days."

Jan showed us this great new color of Picture This Plus that she bought: "Mire!" Don't you love the name? It photographed a lot more purple than it is in real life--there's lots of bruise-y green in it. The perfect fun fabric for a Halloween project. This is 28 count.

Speaking of Halloween, Minnie has done up a bunch of ornaments:

Carol, having finished "And They Sinned," is whipping through the classic: "Jean Rattray" (I think that's how it's spelled).

Linda is working on a Sue Hillis Santa.

Diane is working on a Bent Creek "Ark Mantle."

I paged through the newest issue of "Just Cross Stitch" and found several appealing designs to stitch, including this one:

And the cover design! Oh, to have a few more hours in a week for stitching.

We have Jardin Prive in the shop--lots and lots of clever, fun designs: "Stitch, Stitch and Forget the Time." Raise your hand if you forget the time (burn the dinner) (forget to pick up your honey at the train station) because you're stitching.

This one is on my "must stitch" list: Heart's Ease Samplarworks' "Maryland Inspiration." I saw the stitched model at Woodlawn, and it was magnificent.

Lots of cute elements, and "Quoth The Raven" is a perfect gift that you could stitch and finish before Christmas for that stitching pal.

Last, but not least, you know that we have a wonderful frame shop in-house, right? Everything done right using the best materials and in the super-fussy hands of women who stitch and none of the horror stories you hear about the big-box stores. Here's Sarah Hatton McPhail, framed. My other design was beautifully framed as well, but my photo doesn't do it justice, so I'll try again in the daylight. Thank you Karen, for impeccable, perfect, gorgeous framing job!

Welcome! We've Been Expecting You!

Hello, all! Here are a few scenes from the last Stitch Night (and we have one coming up tomorrow, October 3!) plus some new things in the shop.

Carol's beautiful "And They Sinned." Carol is a powerhouse stitcher: she has (I think I've got the number right) 135 samplers hanging in her home.

Minnie was working on these two designs--Minnie is a powerhouse also.

Helen was working on this--don't you love the matching needle minder?

One of my favorite new things in the shop. This little notebook comes with blank perforated paper--stitch the design. Notice the little pencil?

Then personalize the back. We're noticing lots of new designs calling for perforated paper; we carry lots of it in the shop.

I also love this little rabbit pendant. I am going to buy one and finish it as an ornament, I think.

We have the vibrant Mary Utley in the shop by Black Branch Needlework.

Lots of needle minders. This is very elegant. What great stocking stuffers for needlework pals. Don't wait--pick up a few now.

Greetings, all! We have lots of new items in the shop that we brought back from the Baltimore show! But first, take a look at Karen's progress on the Sam Sarah "Witch's Pantry" project. Yes, we sell this frame! (the pins you see are framing in progress, and are temporary). Love the frame, the color of the fabric and the whole design!


Brand new: "Two Cheeky Sailors" by Queenstown Sampler Designs. What gorgeous floss colors.

It called to me, so I bought it! It is charted for DMC, but I really prefer silk, so I did an easy conversion to AVAS and NPI. Let us know if you'd like it, and we'll provide you with the conversion. I purchased 1/8th of a yard of Lakeside Linen in Magnolia, 40 count, the silk threads, the pattern and these nifty scissors, which I love to death. They're inexpensive and the little sheath snaps on so that you aren't--yikes--stabbing your project in the project bag as you move around. I carry a couple of project bags everywhere with me, and I leave the fancy gold scissors at home. These are great, sharp little cutters, too and come in a variety of colors (pink, purple & blue).

We have Praiseworthy Stitches' "Croaking Toad Manor."


And a helpful Jack O Lantern to hold your floss. I posed him on top of some beautiful Weeks Dye Works' linen in 30 count "Pumpkin."


We were exclaiming over this wonderful Christmas design from Praiseworthy Stitches: the outer red border is stitched with sparkly Kreinik. I enjoy stitching with blingy thread.


We have lots of new Rosewood Manor charts in the shop. Here is "Willow Welcome."


And the Country Cottage patterns of the month march on as the year begins to come to an end: September and October shop models.

We have the Sam Sarah Perpetual Calendar with the frame, the cards and of course, the charts! The way it works: stitch the day of the week, the month, spacer and a number (in this case, Tuesday, January *space* One).


We have some new and incredible needlepoint canvases. Here, two of our many Christmas stockings. Stitch them for your kids, your grandkids or yourself. These will become heirlooms in your hands, passed from generation to generation, and displayed every Christmas.



No time for a big stocking? We have a raft of these little boat bags with various designs. When you've completed the little needlepoint design, we can send it off to our finishing service to be made into this little boatbag, which LL Bean made famous. The canvas comes with the coordinating ribbons that form the handles. What a lovely way to present earrings or an Itunes gift card to a friend or a daughter for Christmas.


See? Eat. Sleep. Stitch. These come as tees, in various sizes, or sleep shirts (with a vee neck) in one-size-fits-most.
