Wednesday was stitch night, and as usual, our busy stitchers knocked our socks off with their projects. Here's Minnie's completed wedding sampler:
Love the beadwork!
Minnie also stitched this Halloween Brittercup design:
Patricia worked on a Prairie Schooler Santa.
We've got lots of new projects in the shop. Here are some things for Autumn. With Thy Needle and Thread's "Sampler of the Season."
Stitch up a squirrelly Halloween necklace (tag and cording included with chart).
Here's a closeup of some batty scissors.
Clever accessories: Kelmscott's sunflower needle minder, and JABCO's cupcake needle threader.
Several new and adorable designs have arrived from Plum Street Samplers.
Notforgotten Farm has some cute new projects, including this Adam & Eve motif Christmas pillow.
In the Christmas theme, we have this snowman by Turquoise Graphics and Designs:
An ornament, perfect for gift-giving, by Homespun Elegance.
And this small project by C Street Samplerworks. Perfect to finish as an ornament or as a small framed picture.
Thinking of knitting a gift for a wee one? This is Churchmouse Designs' "Stay-On Baby Booties." Moms will love these because they won't fall off and get lost. This pattern is wonderful; it's written for three gauges of yarn (fingering, DK weight and worsted), so you don't have to do all that math to convert the instructions. They don't don't fall off, but they knock our socks off!
To order or for questions, please call us at 703-360-4600. Shop hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 12:30-4:30 on the first Sunday of the month (that's this Sunday, October 2). Stitch nights are the first and third Wednesdays of the month, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Happy Stitching!

Autumnal
Hi, all! It has turned chilly here, and our thoughts have turned to fall projects. But first, a few photos of some of the projects our stitchers are working on, as seen at Stitch Night. Jan is working on the Spider Banner by Alesandra Adelaide:
I'm forgetting the title of this; it is an online project not available at the shop, which March has done such a beautiful job of stitching.
And a close-up:
Mary has stitched several very cute needlepoint and is in the process of finishing them cleverly, with perfect fabrics:
We have lots of new fall projects in the shop. These two are by Tempting Tangles Designs: "Jumpin' Jack Frost" and "Autumn Nodding."
And a new fall quaker in gorgeous colors by Stickideen von Wiehenberg--"Autumn Forest Quaker."
"Ornamental Pumpkin" by Turquoise Graphics and Designs.
Here's a fun little kit with all the beads and treasures:
And Lizzie Kate's "Autumn Alphabet."
Just Nan has some fun Garden Charm pins. Beautify your pin cushion!
Here's an amusing little Halloween project called "Pin Kreep."
And last, but certainly not least, Sublime Yarns' vest pattern and the gorgeous, soft merino wool to make it. We have lots and lots of fall yarns in the shop, along with new projects for all you needleworkers (needlepoint and counted cross stitch).
Come visit with us on Stitch Night coming up on Wednesday of this week (9/21) from 6 to 9 p.m.
If you would like to order or have questions, please call us at 703-360-4600. We are open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and the first Sunday of each month from 12:30 to 4:30.

Labor Day Stitching
Hi, all! Happy long weekend to you. Hopefully you don't have to work and can sit back and relax with some stitching or knitting. Here's something to get you started! It's in! The designs inside are fun, but we didn't want to spoil the surprise by giving any peeks. Note: If you didn't get a chance to buy the 2009 or 2010 issues, we have those in stock also.
Since we're thinking of Christmas, Heartstrings Samplery has a new Christmas chart. Love the red!
Nutcrackers!
New in the shop is Scarlett House's "Sarah Elizabeth Brooke." Glenna is kitting it up for herself in 40 count Lakeside Strawflower (lighter and pinker than the suggested Meadow Rue) with the recommended Belle Soie fibers (also charted for Crescent Colours).
Here's a close-up of a new Sampler Company design by Brenda Keyes (darned if I can remember what it's called), but isn't it gorgeous?
A cute Halloween piece from Prairie Moon: "d.sa/m/pler."
"Halloween Party" by Just Nan, as kitted up by Glenna with the Thread Gatherer fibers and natural linen. The chart contains the bead pack.
Just Nan also has lots of Halloween treasures, findings and pins.
The new Debbie Bliss knitting magazine is out. There are a ton of wonderful projects in it--in fact, nearly every one is a "keeper," with nary a strange, unwearable pattern in sight. Look at these adorable booties, knit in Cashmerino Baby. What a wonderful Christmas gift.
And Glenna's planning to knit this one up, from the same Debbie Bliss issue. Just gorgeous. There are several other nordic-related garments in the issue as well, each softer and more beautiful than the last.
From Rovaris. You stitch the letter (it's about 1 inch square), attach the treasures included in the kit and hang it on a pretty cord--a sweet gift for a dear friend.
These affordable little scissors with their dear polka dots have been flying out of the shop.
The sheep are back!
We are open on Monday, Labor Day from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. so you can call and order or stop by to pick up something new. To order, please call us at 703-360-4600.
