We have lots of treats in store! First, we'll be participating in the "Birds of a Feather" mystery sampler by With Thy Needle:
We're thinking ahead to Easter--here's just one of the little delights in our shop (and look for our upcoming Easter issue)--pins for your Easter pincushion from Just Another Button Company.
Little mesh bags for toting your jelly beans (or needles or coins or Metro card)--each one is about 3 inches x 5 inches.
A little chart by Chessie & Me, called "With my Hand." This comes with 36 count vintage Pear linen by Lakeside. All you do is add the fibers--it's charted for either silks (Belle Soie and Gloriana) or DMC.
We have several charts by Beehive Needleworks. All are samplers with the most interesting names: Zabeth Cottingill.
A close-up of Zabeth. What a pretty little sampler that won't take a year to stitch!
The Tabithy Eaton Pin Pillow:
And the Zenna Hartwicke Sampler.
We're liking this a lot--the Homespun Elegance "Stitching Pocket Plus" comes with all the bits and pieces sewn and ready to be stitched. You just stitch the design.
Stitch a chocolate or vanilla cupcake for that special someone's birthday. No calories and guaranteed not to get stale!
Last but not least, this tiny stitcher's notebook. Keep track of your projects, or even your grocery lists. This has a nice thick cover that won't get torn in your purse.
Please call us with questions about the mystery sampler sign-up, to order, or with any other questions you might have. We're open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST Monday through Saturday, and from 12:30 - 4:30 on the first Sunday of each month.
Happy Stitching!

New in the Shop
Happy Friday morning, all! Here's a little new eye-candy for those of you who are longing for weekend stitching.
LHN's "Thirteen Colonies" has arrived. It is charted for 32 count navy bean LL linen, using Crescent Colours, Weeks Dye Works and DMC fibers. We can kit this up for you on your choice of fabric (Glenna grabbed one and is stitching it on 40 count navy bean)--just give us a call (number at the end of this post).
We also have: "Liberty - 1776."
Country Cottage's "April Showers."
"Simply Vintage."
And the newest ornament: "Deck the Halls."
From Primitive Traditions, "Plenty and Grace."
And new from Bent Creek--one of the cutest rows ever: "Gnomes in the Garden."
Here's a closeup of that:
And Bent Creek's pretty "Quaker Noel Row."
And last, but not least, Kathy Schmitz' "Pin Skep."
From the talented hands of Lois is this fun "Renaissance Snowman" in needlepoint.
We hope to see you soon. This is the last weekend of the Woodlawn Needlework Show, which runs through March 31 (except Tuesday, when Woodlawn is closed). We are open this Sunday (and the first Sunday of each month) from 12:30 - 4:30, and every other day from 10 a.m.to 5:00 p.m. EST. Please give us a call at 703-360-4600 if you have questions or want to place an order. Happy stitching!

Flowers from our Garden
In honor of spring's arrival, we're showing off some of our flowery charts. Let's start with planting medium--we have lots and lots of fabrics ready to ship. Here are some of our many Lakeside colors. From the left, Luna, Porcelain, Vintage Magnolia, Vintage Maple Sugar and Vintage Buttercream. These are all 40 count, but we have Lakeside in 32 and 36 as well.
Garden tools! Here are some flowery Premax scissors. Snip pretty!
Our flower charts range from the tiny--Jeanette Douglas Designs "Two Tulips."
Two more tulips from Carriage House Samplings:
Stitch some roses on "Rose House" from Ewe & Eye & Friends.
Beautiful "Summer Iris," by Blackbird Designs.
"Three Violets Humbug" by Just Nan, complete with ribbon and beads.
We carry the called-for fabric for "Three Violets" above. Love the sparkliness of this.
Here we have a little larger garden with "The Wisdom Sampler" from Vermillion Stitchery.
And for something huge, ambitious and gorgeous, we have Heaven and Earth Design's "Garden of Delights."
To order these or other items or for questions, please call us at 730-360-4600; we are open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday. We are open the first Sunday of every month from 12:30-4:30, except during March for the Woodlawn Needlework Show, when we are open every Sunday from 12:30-4:30.

Shop and Trunk Show Models
Good morning on this sunny Sunday from Virginia!
We have lots of models to show you today--there are some trunk shows in our shop, along with some new shop models. First is the little needlebook bat from the Blackberry Lane Designs trunk show. Just look at the detail on this little guy, and he doesn't even seem to mind the needle through his tummy.
His little bat bottom is just as nice. We love the little beads along his wings.
One of our shop models, "Coffee" by Alessandra Adelaide.
We love the way the swirls on the frame echo the swirls in the design.
We have a mini Long Dog trunk show. Here is "Pot 4 Dickie."
And a close-up. One of our customers is stitching this design using deep plum floss instead of the black.
This is the "Ferry Farm Sampler," by Homespun Elegance. Ferry Farm was George Washington's boyhood home, before he moved to Mt. Vernon. Mount Vernon is just a few miles from our shop, and Ferry Farm is about 30 miles south of here. Both properties are beautiful in the spring, especially now that the flowers and cherry trees are beginning to blossom. And a reminder that Woodlawn Plantation, which was originally part of Mt. Vernon, is open through the month of March (except for Tuesdays) for the Annual Needlework Exhibition.
We want to show you this stunning project from the needle of one of our customers! Kathy H. is doing a wonderful job of working on the Ann Bowers Sampler by Joanne Harvey of the Examplarery. Unfortunately, this design is part of a class offered at the Christmas in Williamsburg stitching event, and is not available to us. We hate to show you something we cannot get, but at the same time, we wanted you to be able to enjoy Kathy's beautiful stitching as we did. We love to see what our talented customers are working on!
Need a little something to carry around that special project?
Please give us a call at 703-360-4600 if you have questions or would like to place an order. We're open Monday-Saturday 10 a.m. - 5 p.m., and the first Sunday of each month from 12:30 - 4:30, except during March, when we are open every Sunday from 12:30 - 4:30.

Things You Don't See Every Day
Well, we missed St. Patrick's day by about half an hour, but it's not too late for you to stitch this "Irish Thought":
It's come to our attention that some of you don't have a real-live LNS, so we thought we would show you some of the things that you don't see lots of on the web; maybe they're oldies, or by designers who are not as well known, or variations on stitching that you might not have seen or even a design that you've seen and forgotten about. All photos are clickable for a better look, and as always, please call us at 703-360-4600 if you have questions or would like to order something. We're happy to send a chart, to kit something up for you, to recommend fibers or fabric. This is a cute Independence Day design by Ewe & Eye & Friends--the large number on it indicates that it's a shop model.
Another shop model--"Stack of Snow" by Amy Bruecken. The carrot noses are buttons.
"Lucy Locket," something new by the Needle's Notion--click to see larger--the fish are too cute.
We did a little reshuffling of some of our charts--folks don't always look on the bottom rack, so we like to move them around a bit, and look at the treasure we found: a nice historic sampler: "Mary Briggs 1829."
Here's an "Heirloom Baby Sampler" by JBW Designs, along with the pillow cover to stitch it on.
Glenna's newest must-stitch choice: we carry the Elizabeth Bradley Needlework Kits, which are designed to be worked in Victorian cross stitch (right to left, one cross at a time) in wool included in the kits. They make excellent framed pictures as well as rugs, pillows or chair covers. This one is called "The Pastoral." Think about how a couple of these pillows would look arranged on a sofa under some framed cross stitch in your home. There are various animals and bugs hidden in the design, including two little worms.
How about treating yourself to a nice new mesh zipper project bag in jelly bean brights?
Happy stitching!

Thinking of Spring and Fun Things from In Stitches
We have a number of stitched models from Mary Riggs/Handwork: here's one. Drop by and see her other sampler models (and antiques from her collection) for sale!
Just to let you know, you can call us to order anything you see on this site, or even something you see somewhere else. Our phone number is 703-360-4600. Unfortunately we do not have a "shopping cart" so that you can order online, but we're here and happy to help when you call!
It's pretty chilly here in Northern Virginia, but the trees are beginning to bud, and we're seeing the first bits of forsythia and daffodils. Spring is on its way! We like this flowery A&E sampler from Beth Twist's Heartstring Samplery:
As well as this one, which is new in the shop:
This La-D-Da project is cute, small and stitches up into a little pin--a neat, springy way to showcase your work.
We have lots of needleminders--here are just a few.
Are your keys on a blah keychain? Put them on this one instead! This is a great, substantial keychain that won't get lost in your purse.
We love this little needlepoint checkbook case by Birds of a Feather. Beautiful springy colors, and it unzips to make it easy to stitch on.
Just in case you feel like stitching Halloween items, we are having a 20%-off trunk show sale on these needlepoint charts. There are lots of designs--not just Halloween.
Knit a springy Gumdrop Sweater for a pretty little girl.
